Virtual Shadow Drawing System Using Augmented Reality for Laparoscopic Surgery

چکیده
Laparoscopic surgery holds great promise in medicine but remains challenging for surgeons because it is difficult to perceive depth while suturing. In addition binocular parallax, such as three-dimensional vision, shadow essential perception. This paper presents an augmented reality system that draws virtual shadows aid On the visual display, generates mimic actual by estimating positions using image processing. The distance and angle between forceps tip surface were estimated evaluate accuracy of system. To validate usefulness this surgical applications, novices performed suturing tasks with without error delay sufficiently small, generated similar shadows. Furthermore, decreased significantly when was used. shadow-drawing developed study may help during laparoscopic surgery.

Augmented Reality in Laparoscopic Surgery
A trend in abdominal surgery is the transition from open procedures to minimally invasive laparoscopic interventions, where visual feedback to surgical staff is only available through the laparoscope camera and direct palpation of organs is impossible. To successfully perform such sophisticated interventions, the provision of additional intraoperative feedback can be of great help to the surgic...
متن کاملTowards a Clinical Stereoscopic Augmented Reality System for Laparoscopic Surgery
We describe our development of a complete real-time stereoscopic augmented reality system that overlays laparoscopic ultrasound (LUS) images on stereoscopic laparoscopic video for conventional laparoscopic surgery. The system was designed and developed to achieve near-term clinical evaluation as a primary goal. Special consideration was paid to system interactivity, accuracy and easy integratio...
متن کاملAugmented Reality Visualization for Laparoscopic Surgery
We present the design and a prototype implementation of a three-dimensional visualization system to assist with laparoscopic surgical procedures. The system uses 3D visualization, depth extraction from laparoscopic images, and six degree-of-freedom head and laparoscope tracking to display a merged real and synthetic image in the surgeon’s video-see-through head-mounted display. We also introduc...
متن کاملVirtual Kawaradera: Fast Shadow Texture for Augmented Reality
The Kawaradera temple, formerly located in the village of Asuka, was one of the oldest temples in Japan; unfortunately, it was destroyed by fire in the latter part of the Muromachi Period. The Virtual Kawaradera Project is an outdoor on-site augmented reality application that uses a head mounted display, whose purpose is to reconstruct and represent Kawaradera virtually. We begin with a short i...
متن کاملApplication of Augmented Reality to Laparoscopic Surgery
The usefulness and feasibility of an augmented reality visualization system for laparoscopic surgery is examined. This technology could enable physicians to see data, such as medical images, as well as the patient’s 3-D anatomy, in the context of the patient rather than viewing a 2-D video monitor. Three new results will be presented: 1. A study whose chief findings were that augmented reality ...
